Description

This is Gouache and watercolor color rough, which I may turn into a final oil painting. I hadn't worked in traditional mediums in a while so I'm a lil rusty, the shadow colors turned out a little to neutral but I didn't want to mess with it digitally keeping all the natural painting intact for good or worse.

I wanted to make an image that was an a-typical fantasy piece adding the little man cub creature at the bottom kinda brings it to a more interesting place in terms of concept and story. I welcome any of your thoughts about the little man cub creature, maybe get a series or story based on this initial image.

This is fun. It's great to see artists that are open to free interpretation of their works. Great use of blue in this piece as a subtle highlight color, as well as building those shadows. I think the "rough" finish gives it an entirely different feel than if you were "polish" it.

If I may contribute my own little tagline or prologue to the image:
"The boy does not know. He cannot know!"

"And why not, Bestimus? He is the last of his kind. He should at least know his fate."

"And be raised an outcast? Alesta, you of all people of the kingdom should know that subjects do not always revere their royalty. There has not been a half-breed birth since the days of my grandfather. The people have grown used to two legs, not four. They would hate and revile him before he was of age to understand why."

"He is our son, Bestimus. He will lead this people if only we show him the courage he will need. The people love you, husband. So can they your son."

"They fear me with equal passion."

"And well the should, husband. Such is the role a king plays for his people, moreover when he has the capacity to eat those that mock him!"

A deep chuckle rumbled through is supine figure and he held her close. She was hard to argue with.
